Theoretical – Laboratory
Objective
The course is intended for Orthodontists and graduate students in Orthodontics, aiming to discuss basic concepts of Orthodontic Mechanics, concepts, and devices used in the Segmented Arch technique, space closing mechanics with double key arch, sliding (Straight Wire ) and concepts of mechanics in the Edgewise technique.
Program Content
Introduction to the segmented arc technique;
Basic concepts of orthodontic mechanics;
Statically determined and indeterminate systems;
Lingual arch and palatal bar: mechanical aspects;
Rectangular handles and cantilevers;
Intrusion arcs;
T-space closing;
Space closing mechanics: double key and sliding;
Concept of mechanics in the Edgewise technique.
